Weekly Engineering Impact

What Engineering shipped for Zig this week

Engineering's progress this week across product, customer operations, and reliability — what we delivered and what's coming next.

Lead Generation
Contact search finds more leads, more accurately
Contact search now works by location as well as job title, pulls in an additional data provider for better coverage, and resolves the right company domain first when all you have is a company name.
Lead Generation
Zig now flags when a search matches your ideal customer profile
Search results are checked against a customer's existing ideal customer profiles, with suggestions to fill any gaps — helping reps build sharper, better-targeted lead lists from the start.
Security & Access
A login lockout was fixed the same day it was reported
A teammate got locked out of Zig this morning after hitting Auth0's workspace-picker limit. Instead of a risky workaround, engineering shipped a one-click operator login that bypasses the picker entirely — demoed to the team by the afternoon.
Outreach
Outreach emails now carry a Zig signature automatically
Every email sent through Instantly now includes the sender's signature with no manual setup, and any new email account added going forward gets one automatically too.
AI Knowledge Base
The knowledge base is moving to a faster, more reliable retrieval engine
Engineering continued migrating knowledge-base document retrieval from Ragie to LlamaCloud this week, building toward faster, more dependable search across the platform.
Integrations
Customers will get more control over CRM field mapping
Users will be able to choose which fields in Zig's lead list map to which field in their CRM, instead of relying on a fixed mapping.

🎯 Lead Generation Gets More Accurate, More Complete Results
Shipped
Contact search can now find leads by location in addition to job title, pulls in an additional data provider to return more matches, and for companies known only by name Zig now resolves the right domain first before searching for people. Zig also flags when a search matches an existing ideal customer profile and suggests ways to fill any gaps.
Led by Karthick
🗂️ Every Uploaded Lead List Is Now Saved and Auditable
Shipped
When a customer uploads a CSV to build a lead list, Zig now keeps the original file on record, with download access limited to Zig's own team.
Led by Karthick
✍️ Outreach Emails Now Carry a Zig Signature Automatically
Shipped
Every outreach email sent through Instantly now automatically includes the sender's signature — no manual setup required — and new Instantly email accounts get one from the moment they're added.
Led by Jaskaran
🔐 One-Click Operator Login Ends the Workspace-Limit Lockout
Shipped
Operators can now log directly into any customer workspace from Sauron, skipping Auth0's org picker entirely.
Led by Sharath
🛠️ Lead-List Import Reliability Fixes
Shipped
Fixed an issue where importing a lead list could crash partway through, plus a billing-retry bug that could keep retrying charges beyond its expected bounds.

📋 Company Pages Get a Clearer Layout, Action Cards Get Clearer Titles
Shipped
The company details page has a new layout that makes each section easier to scan, and follow-up/action card titles were rewritten so reps know what a card is about before opening it.

📬 Inbound Automation Keeps Improving Post-Launch
Shipped
Building on last week's inbound-automation launch, segments are no longer restricted to a single campaign, a new draft mode lets the team test automations safely before they go live, and routing logic was improved to support Ketch's specific use case.
Led by Preetham
📱 Self-Signup Clears the Path for the iOS Launch
In progress
Self-signup is functional enough to unblock the iOS app release, with a few subscription-flow enhancements still to come once the design is ready.
Led by Sudhanshu
🧭 Smarter Outreach Segmentation, In Review
In progress
A new way to segment leads within outreach campaigns using Zig's Skynet engine is submitted for review, part of a larger rework of how Zig generates outreach messages.

What we're watching

Open items the team is actively working through.

Lead-enrichment coverage anomaly for ChecksumUnder review
A list uploaded by Checksum's intern returned enriched results for only 5% of contacts, versus ~90% for the same run in a different workspace. Reported this morning; engineering is still tracking down the source list to check system logs as of this evening.
Nobilite company record shows "Unknown" and duplicatesTemp fix
Nobilite's company name displayed as "Unknown" and couldn't be edited by the customer; the name was corrected manually last night as a temporary fix. The underlying duplicate-company-record issue (flagged Jul 14) is being addressed as a priority this week.
Search-type selection affecting lead-gen result countsUnder review
A deep-research search for Clearpath returned far fewer qualifying leads than expected; root cause looks like the query parser picking a less effective search type for certain queries. Being investigated.
Outreach management feature requests queuedBacklog
Customers have asked for the ability to delete outreach that failed to send, and for reusable outreach templates by segment (e.g. Public Sector). Both logged as backlog feature requests, no committed timeline yet.
